Need does not end with the resumption of SNAP benefits. 40,000 of our Mercer County neighbors face food insecurity each day.
How One Woman Found Hope and Healing at JFCS
“JFCS has not only put fresh food on our table but also helped with school supplies when I felt completely overwhelmed by the prices. We are on SNAP, but with the high cost of living these days, it is often not enough.
Without JFCS, I would sometimes have to choose less nutritious foods just to fill our bellies. My boys are growing, and they eat a lot.
Thanks to JFCS, fresh fruits and vegetables have become part of our meals. I often make curry rice with the rice and veggies I get, and recently, with a huge zucchini from the pantry, we made zucchini fries. The boys absolutely loved them!
I am deeply grateful not just for the food and supplies, but for the genuinely kind people at JFCS. Growing up in an Asian household, I was taught to be embarrassed to ask for help. It wasn’t easy to reach out, but I realized pride means nothing if my boys aren’t eating well. Every visit to JFCS is a pleasure. Everyone greets me with huge smiles and is always willing to help in any way they can. I often tell them that they are angels sent from above.
Thank you, JFCS, for your warmth, your love, and your support. The help I have received is more than just food and supplies. It is hope.
