Volunteering

Being a volunteer is a double blessing—By giving of one’s self, an individual gains personal satisfaction while helping others.

JFCS volunteers provide resources in many ways:

  • Serving meals to older adults through the Kosher Café
  • Collecting for the Kosher Food Pantry
  • Preparing bags of kosher food for delivery to immigrants and the elderly
  • Lending their skills and talents to the JFCS Board, committees and special events
  • Providing needed office assistance to the JFCS staff
  • Creating centerpieces for Tzedakah

Volunteers of all ages are welcome.  JFCS offers many opportunities for Bar or Bat Mitzvah projects and high school community service projects.

"It is not incumbent upon you to complete the work. But neither
are you free from doing what you can." - Pirke Avot 2:21

Featured Volunteers

Barbara Goodman (left) JFCS Senior Services Social Worker, presented the Tzedakah Award to Janice Gross (not pictured) and Florence Lipstein (right) for their work with senior citizens in the Golden Agers Program and the Kosher Cafe.

Excerpts from Barbara Goodman's comments about these dedicated volunteers:
Florence Lipstein is my role model in terms of someone who is constantly doing for others. Florence has boundless energy and generosity.

Janice Gross came on her own to volunteer at the Golden Agers Program She started out helping to serve food. When she saw there was a need for a discussion group leader she stepped right in and volunteered to prepare an interesting weekly topic for discussion. This continues to be a much-enjoyed activity.

Both of these women make a difference in countless people lives and their efforts are highly valued by one and all.

Zach Lawrence

"To all my friends,
I'd like to ask you, instead of giving me a gift, to make a donation to the Jewish Family & Children's Service of Greater Mercer County. They serve people and families of every race and religion.
While I am very lucky that I have family and friends to rely on, there are people in our area who are not so fortunate. While my biggest worry is getting good grades, there are others who must worry about where they will sleep or about their next meal.
You can learn more about this great group at www.jfcsonline.org. Please mail your donations to 707 Alexander Road, Princeton, NJ 08540, mention Zach's Bar Mitzvah.
Thanks,
Zach Lawrence"

"Dear Family & Friends,
Many people in our area are not as fortunate as I am. Therefore, instead of giving me a gift, I ask you to please make a donation to the Jewish Family & Children's Service of Greater Mercer County.
Your donations are tax deductible, so please be at least as generous with them as you would have been with your gift to me. If it is easier for you, you can give me your donation check and I will mail it for you. Please mention in the "Memo" line that your donation is in honor of my Bat Mitzvah. Thank you for giving generously.
Samantha Wagner"
